MMS is a Chinese community for avid golfers in Middlesex, Mercer and Somerset counties in Central New Jersey. Established in 2015, MMS has evolved from a handful of members to over 60 players with HCP ranging from single digits to 20+. Managed by volunteers, MMS organizes weekly group competitions year around including freezing winter and scorching summer days. Participants are randomly assigned to two opposing teams of roughly equal HCP calculated by an algorithm based on each player’s most recent 10 on-course scores. A small prize is waged to encourage competition and have fun. Sometimes after-game joy extends to a 19th hole. In addition, MMS organizes Sino Star Cup, an annual event participated in by broader Chinese golf communities in New Jersey. As of March 2025, a total of 18 Sino Start Cup events have been successfully completed, each event filled with memorable moments which were recalled over and over. In the Fall of 2025, the highly anticipated 19th Sino Star Cup will be held in the spectacular golf course High Bridge Hills, featured with hilly fairways and challenge greens.
From the start, MMS members have formed friendships and camaraderie that extend beyond local MMS courses. While most New Jersey courses are closed in winter, some dedicated MMS players venture to warmer areas like South Carolina, Florida, and even Las Vegas for a week to escape the harsh cold weather and enjoy swinging their clubs. They brought back pictures (hyperlinks) to show off their joys and sometimes pains on and off the course. Additionally, yearly trips to other nearby famous courses like Eagle Rock, Trump’s private course, and elite NYC courses are organized.
MMS offers a dynamic and engaging environment that caters to golf enthusiasts of all skill levels, from novices to seasoned players. Our goal is to foster a spirit of friendly competition while maintaining an inclusive atmosphere. By providing opportunities for golfers to connect, compete, and improve their game, MMS has become a vibrant community that celebrates the sport of golf.
